Gnome Colors

Add comments

Gnome Colors is a full set for Gnome users wich aims to provide you a complete and multi-colored, elegant and usable desktop.
It includes Gtk themes, Icons, GDM themes and Wallpapers, wich come in 7 color variations (Blue, Orange, Red, Purple, Green, Chocolate and Pink), and the source files are also available, for you to choose your own favourite color.
The project started about a year ago, and is regularly updated : you can download each new version by yourself or use the repositories for the updates to be checked by your update manager.

A few explanations are given in the comments on how to use the repositories.

    Some infos :
As you may know, Ubuntu, and many other Linux distros, are able to keep the system updated by themselves. They actually regularly ask the repositories if there are new versions of the installed programms. There are many repositories, and only the official and stable are activated by default. For the other repositories to be checked, you’ll have to activate them (f.e the official but unstable repositories) or even to add them to your sources list.

    How To :
To add a new repository, you have to edit the sources.list and to add the repository link in the file, type this in a console :
    gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Add this at the end of the file :
    # Gnome-Colors Repository
    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/gnome-colors-packagers/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
    deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/gnome-colors-packagers/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

There is also a graphic tool available in the menu “System” if you don’t like typing command lines.
Then, you’ll have to add the key of the repository. Type this in a console :
    sudo apt-key adv –recv-keys –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 2d79f61be8d31a30

Finally, you’ll have to update the lists :
    sudo apt-get update

You can now install the theme, the packages are arc-colors gnome-colors and shiki-colors :
    sudo apt-get install arc-colors gnome-colors and shiki-colors
You can also run Synaptic and search the packages if you don’t like the console.

    Enjoy !

@Hund : I do as well, I’m currently using this suite for my “Guest-session” :)
